Ramadan Al Mubarak

Assalamuaalaikum warahmatullah,

Before we know it, Ramadan will come in less than 2 weeks now.  InshaAllah we get to embrace the Blessed month once again, and so there are a few preparations that need to be made. Starting from today,I would like to take this opportunity to go through the 5-things-to-do so that we are all set for that happy greeting: Ramadan Mubarak!

1. Pay your fasting dues
You might have missed a few fasting days last year due to menstruation, pregnancy, nursing, travelling or illness. While there are still a few days left leading up to Ramadan, it is best to use this window of opportunity to pay off your fasting dues. As stated in the Qur’an:
‘[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] – then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] – a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess – it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.’ (2:184)
